Zoo atlanta education programs
At the end of the week, participants will share what they learned by putting on an EPIC talent show! Careers in Conservation: Calling all future scientists! Join us for this STEM career camp experience. Campers will get hands-on, minds-on experience learning about how daily collaboration from an array of Zoo specialists enables Zoo Atlanta to be a leading institution in the field of animal care and conservation education.
Survival of the Fittest: Come explore the incredible world of animals during this week-long adventure. Participants will learn about adaptations animals use to survive in the wild while competing against other groups in a series of daily challenges. Prehistoric Adventure: Though millions of years have passed since the rise and fall of prehistoric creatures, they still can capture the hearts of people across the globe. Journey with us as we investigate extinct animals and compare and contrast them to their living descendants.
This week will culminate in participants creating and exhibiting artwork that pays homage to these long-lost species. Scavenging Around: Join us as we dive into the world of scavengers! Campers will enjoy exploring animals that scavenge for food, the important scavenging adaptations these animals have, and why this feeding method is a critical part of the food chain.
This program will inspire participants to want to learn more about the scavengers that live in their own backyards. Superheroes Unite: Saving wildlife is a big task and requires the help of many dedicated people. This week, participants will discover the complexities of conservation and create a superhero that is equipped to solve problems that animals face in the wild.
While these heroes may have special abilities to help save species, participants will learn that they, too, have the power to be advocates of change! Camp affected by holidays May 30 and July 4 will be prorated.
Safari Camp is a great opportunity to engage young explorers about the wild world around them and begin their journey of conservation stewardship. Through Zoo explorations, up-close animal encounters, STEAM-based projects, hands-on science activities, environmental games and more, campers learn about attainable strategies and goals to combat environmental issues and are charged with finding simple ways that they can make a difference.
While Zoo Atlanta is a great place to discover nature and wildlife, it is also important that campers have a chance to experience wildlife in a more naturalistic setting.
Campers may travel out to Grant Park which surrounds the Zoo to participate in a variety of activities such as nature walks, environmental research, and group team-building games.
