The exception unknown software exception 0xc0000409 occurred

You said that Skype smoothly runs for long time. So please try to uninstall the software and restart the machine. Then download a latest version and install it on your machine. Please follow instructions below before install it again. Open program files folder. Search for Skype folder and delete it.

Then Open Users folder. Then open your user folder. In that folder there is a folder named AppData, inside that folder there is a folder named Roaming. In the Roaming folder you can see another two folders named Skype and SkypePm folder that contain some files related to the Skype Installation.

So delete those folders also. After deleting all these folders install the Skype. Then you will be able to use the software without that issue.
